If you’re still hanging on to that huge black console playing Halo 2 online, then you only have a few more months to get those frags in.  Microsoft has officially announced in a press release that they will be discontinuing support of Xbox LIVE for original Xbox games on April 15th.  This cut-off includes titles that Xbox 360 users have downloaded to their console.  Marc Whitten, General Manager of Xbox LIVE, encourages you to “check your LIVE messages and associated e-mail account over the coming weeks for more details and opportunities.  We view you as a partner in this process.”

LIVE, which has grown to more than 23-million gamers, hosts more games online than you can count with your hand, including the ultra-popular title “Halo 2″ from the “Halo” series.  Xbox LIVE for the 360 has become more than just a way to connect millions of gamers world-wide, though, with the addition of services that transforms one’s console into an entertainment hub where users can stream movies through Netflix, keep up with their Facebook friends, and more.

By the way, if you are really attached to those old games, you might want to check out XBConnect.

    • I read somewhere that ALL original games are getting cut-off, including those downloaded from the 360.
