iO LAN #1 - What to Bring!

Ok guys here is the list you requested. I will probably revise this as we go but here is a general guideline:

    1. Entry Fee Money- For the few of you that it is absolutely necessary to pay at the door. Please it's very helpful for me if you pre-pay at the July 15th deadline.

    2. If you are traveling with your computer:

    Necessary
    - Computer including network card.
    - Monitor
    - Keyboard
    - Mouse
    - Mouse pad
    - Power Cords (1 for monitor, 1 for computer, and whatever else needs power)
    - Surge Protector
    - Headset! (Speakers will not be allowed.)
    - 15 ft RJ45 Network Cable. The bigger the better! (I know thanatos is going to bring that down to the gutter). I'll also have some extra new/packaged on hand for people to purchase and even some to just give out to you guys if needed.

    Optional but helpful!
    - Battery Backup (UPS)
    - Extension Power Cable
    - Extra Network Switch (if you have any gig switches or 24 port / high port switches, bring them!)
    - Blank CD's/DVD's
    - OS and Network Driver CD's (In case of emergency)

If you are using the LAN Center's machines: You still need to bring your peripherals. Everything but the monitor and actual computer itself. Bring everything else suggested/listed above to ensure no problems! For example, bring your headset/mouse/keyboard/mousepad/surgeprotector/headset/etc...

    3. Be sure to unshare anything on your machine that you do not want to be possibly exposed on the network, ie. financial/personal documents etc. Password your computer! - Not that I don't trust everyone that's coming but it's always better safe than sorry!

    4. Have your computer in working condition! Have your machine and games patched up to the latest out. Make sure everything is working properly so you can spend your time enjoying gaming and not fixing your machine!! - Make sure you have all the games you want to play installed before you get there!

    5. Sleeping bag/Pillow just in case.

    6. Money to pay your share of the hotel!

    7. Snacks/Food/Beverage (No Alcohol will be allowed, especially if you're not over 21)

    8. Extra spending money if we decide to grab dinner as a group one night.

    9. Cameras, video and photo! - We need to take a lot of pictures for our sponsors so make sure you bring the camera to make it even more memorable!

    10. BE READY TO GAME AND HAVE FUN - Everyone bring a good attitude. This will be our first lan in history and we hope to do this very often if it works out the way we're planning. It's going to be a great, unforgettable time so start getting excited!!!!

Nice job Nicky ! Can not wait ! 1 Question , Is it safe/OK to leave our PC`s at the LAN Center or should/do we need to remove it every time we leave the center.

The real answer is that we'll see when we get there. But the guy said it would be definitely safe for us to leave the machines overnight and whenever..

He has security cameras throughout the LAN center. Last 2 times I was there we all left our PC's there for dinner. Overnight though, since we're the only ones allowed at the LAN center, I could see that being safe.

I'm assuming you're talking about the LAN center and not the hotel in regards to drinking. (Refering to those of us who are over 21; sorry to the 20 and unders but the risk isn't worth it!)

And please, please, PLEASE don't be that guy. Last time I was at a LAN there we went out for Hibachi and there's always that one asshole who "didn't bring enough" after they ate!

That includes those of us who have to lug not one but two heavy ass boxes down to the LAN because Nicky's a dick.

I'll probably have an extra one, but the one's I have are only about 2 feet long. I pretty much just use them for my modem/router

Don't sweat it, I definitely should have an extra one and I'm sure Nicky should have a few for people to borrow. Just as long as 30 people don't show up without them it shouldn't be a problem!

Save your $$$! I literally have like 10 extra. Not that I'm bringing all of them, but you are more then welcome to have one. I didn't pay for them either so literally, it's yours.

Re: iO LAN #1 - What to Bring!

    I'm assuming a 25ft cord will be enough ?

As to the food/snacks: I'm pretty sure I read on their website that no outside food/drink were allowed? Is this being lifted since it's a special event/reservation?

To that end I'd suggest everyone bring a close-able container like a travel mug/bottle and just pour whatever canned drinks you're drinking into it to reduce the chance of an "Oh crap, soda all over my keyboard!" (Yea, it's happened to me :P)

Also I'm sure it would make the guys running the place feel a lot better if they saw us trying our best to keep from making a mess
