Race vs Race

Ok so here it goes.
Whoami I will have to compare again don't get mad

So as wow have the alliance vs horde in game, and the races cannot be "friends" how is the race work in GW2.
if lets say i will be a charr and someone else is human, when in the course of the game we will actually meet? are the cities we go in are friendly to all races?

or basically its us the players against the NPCs?

each person has a personal story but can invite friends to play along side no matter what race (correct me if im wrong) but your story will be the only one that gets effected by what you do. the friends that join you are considered guests to your story

Cities/towns/villages are friendly to all, so you don't get locked out just because you're the 'wrong' race. Playing as Human, I've run around Hoelbrak and the Black Citadel, for example.
