One of our own Lord_of_Laziness passed away

As some of you already may know, it has come to our attention that one of our own, and a BF3 Admin for quite some time, Lord_of_Laziness known IRL as Paul Fredericks, has passed away on November 15th, 2011. He had so much pain that he saw no other way than to take his own life.

While we don't know the true cause of Lord's pain, it kills me to know that someone here in iO could helped the matter, even just a little bit. Just by one kind word or one gaming friendship that could have given him that extra strength to get through. We'd like to think that maybe our community did that for some time.

We would like everyone to take a moment to just think about this situation and take this into consideration in every aspect of your life, not just within iO. You can never know what anyone else is dealing with in their own lives, even if they don't show it. Very often in the gaming world, we are quick to call someone a name and quickly put someone down. Let's all together be better than that and try to always be positive and supportive of each other and everyone around us.

Browsing through his Facebook wall the days after his death, and reading all the positive and great things his friends had to say about him makes us wonder; what if all the people had told him these things while he was alive?

We hope that you walk away from this post and don't hesitate in the future to tell someone why they mean something.

Re: One of our own Lord_of_Laziness passed away

He was a great guy, played countless hours with him. then one day he just never signed back online, longer time went by i thought it was weird that he never posted on the forums from a friends computer or maybe a local library telling us that his computer died or something

He will always be missed and iO's Lord of Laziness

Friendly and funny guy and remember good and fun games with him...
It's so sad to think that he must have been in this dark and painful place and between the jokes,
games and laughing we didn't know...
I wish he knew he wasn't alone and that somehow we could have made a different out come...

I hope you're in peace now.

Re: One of our own Lord_of_Laziness passed away

Spent a lot of time in vent and in game with him. He was a good friend to me and never showed any sign of trouble. He was always in high spirits around me and we had a lot of fun playing bc2 together.

    He will be missed!

    Rest In Peace my friend!

I didn't really know him, but my condolences go out to those who did. I hope that if anyone out there reading this is going through a similar dark time in their lives that they consider talking to friends about it and seeking professional help as well.

So very true Nicky. It is a great loss to lose someone, a personal friend or online friend to such tragedy. Opening up to someone about your troubles sometimes really helps, but even though you open up the major problems can still stay hidden. We all hide our pain/troubles differently. And sometimes its hard to see.
We all go through things in life that is very unbearable, whether it's health related, relationship trouble, financial trouble, family issues, etc.
Speaking from experience, I am just so glad that the iO community has such good and caring members. I do believe that just about any 1 of you would give the shirt off your back to help someone in need, if possible.

    RIP Lord_of_Laziness

I was shocked to hear what happened. I always thought his computer broke down or that he just quit gaming. He was a great admin and person and he will missed.
