    Headset Suggestions?

I've been looking around for a few weeks now for a new headset (my current one is literally held together by tape and some twine, and shorts out if you touch the cord in a certain spot). My current headset is the G35 Logitech headset. The second of which that I've owned and it's been an amazing headset. Got this one to replace my broken first one, so it's probably been about 4 years that I've been using it.

    What I'm looking for:
Wired (dual wired/wireless is acceptable but I haven't seen many/any of those)
    True or Virtual 7.1 Surround
    Good Quality Mic
    Circumaural
    USB

Probably be ordering this sometime next week so if anybody has any opinions to hit me with.

As far as brand goes, I've been looking at Creative Labs, Steelseries, and Razer mostly, as well as just getting another G35, but I'm more than happy to take suggestions.

    Re: Headset Suggestions?

I'm using the Corsair Vengeance 2000. Absolutely love them to death. Comfy, sturdy, great sound, and the mic is perfect. They're wireless (with the option of wired via the usb cable); battery lasts me about 9 hours before recharge. Range is a good 30-40 feet (not like you need it). The sound presets are spot on as well. I actually take the time to adjust them between fps's, movies, music, etc.
Volume control built onto the left can.
The only single complaint, if you can even call it that, is that there's a very brief and barely audible hiss right before audio is played and just after it's finished when watching something on the web. You don't hear it during gaming, movies, etc but if it's completely silent you'll notice it. After about a week I forgot it was even there unless I made an effort to listen for it. From what I've read though, this is very common among USB sets so it's not like I'd knock the unit for it.
Newegg had them on sale a few weeks ago for $99.99. Well worth that price IMO. I had a $200 pair of Sennheiser's which have been moved to the 'backup' position!

    Re: Headset Suggestions?

Been using this bad boy for a while now and it's great. Doesn't look like it's still being sold (?) but I definitely recommend it. I wouldn't suggest 7.1 in a headset but virtual surround is a good way to go. Anything beyond 2.1 is pushing it really.

    Re: Headset Suggestions?

I really wouldn't advise getting the Corsair Vengeance 2000. While I am using it now my first pair broke with normal use in the first month. The plastic they used to hold the ear piece to the headset is very fragile. I just had my pair RMAed and was without a headset for a week and a half. I get my new set and it wouldnt even connect. 24 hours later I learned that I could pair them and how to do it and it worked but I am just waiting for the plastic to break again.

    Sound Quality is a 10
    Mic is a 10
Comfort is horrible. They are hot and itchy even after using them for a month it didn't go away.
Wireless is awesome. I love being able to run to the fridge or to take a piss without having to take them off and miss stuff on comms.

Just my take on it but my next headset purchase will not be another pair of these.

SteelSeries North America - SteelSeries Siberia v2 Natus Vincere Edition
I use these^ and I don't ever want to use another headset ever again. Ever. Never ever. (They are not usb, I use an external sound card that converts for me. They are also not technically surround sound, but the sound quality you'll get out of these will absolutely blow your mind.) If these are ever going to stop being made, I will buy 1359872597 of them to be sure I never have to use anything but this headset. They are so comfortable you'll forget you're wearing it. Mic quality is fantastic. They're super durable.. I've beat the crap out of them and they still look brand new.

    BUY THESE.

I take it you didn't get the leatherette replacement ear pads. If I like the headset I'll be getting them.

I probably wouldn't have gone with Corsair if I didn't know about these, I hate cloth ear cups.

Anyway, thanks everyone! I'll let you all know what I think when I get them and if I immediately RMA them due to suckery.

I've bought plenty of Logitech during my time as a gamer. They're awful pieces of crap.
