SLI or get a new card for BF4?

My current graphics card is an EVGA 660 Ti 2GB. To run BF4 on max settings, I may need to upgrade. I am trying to decide between picking up a 2nd one for SLI ($275), or selling that one and upgrading to a GTX 770 ($410). All of my other components are already SLI compatible and I have a 750-watt PSU which should be enough to power everything.

    Thoughts?

Sell then upgrade or get 7950x2 which will easily destroy a Gtx 770 at the same price. What res are you playing at? If you go 2x660 Ti and in case you upgrade to higher res monitor later on (like 1440p which is common now a days), 2gb will be very small.

Re: SLI or get a new card for BF4?

Mine is 1080p at 60Hz and I don't plan on upgrading it for a while. If I'm gonna go with dual cards I would prefer to just get a 2nd 660Ti, since I would have to sell the one I have at a loss if I switched to AMD. From what I'm reading the 770 is only marginally better than the 660Ti and the 780 is too pricey, so at this point it sounds like SLI is the best option. Unless... what about getting a single 7970?

I been thinking of maybe picking up one of these.
HIS Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition IceQ 2GB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDMI, Dual DP at Memory Express

    Not a bad price.

Or maybe 2x5770? lol This card is pretty solid on bf3 and most new games.

At 1080p gaming, a single 7950 is suffice. A good 7950 can clock the speeds of a 7970 and at same clock speeds you're only about less than 10% slower than a 7970. You can get a 7950 around $200 with free 3 games. You should check it out.

More like quad HD 7990 ftw!

I only have one but mine hits about 80-90 fps on my 2560x1440p monitor. Once I get my water blocks, I'm going trifire!

Isn't the 7950 pretty much comparable to the 660Ti I have now?

im using 2x6970 now and i think will be more than enough for bf4...at least here in brazil 6970 is now an affordable gpu... i think 7970 is the replacement for it but with no great improvements...you could try this

No. 7950 > 660ti at stock clocks and specially when overclock. Also, You can get a 7950 for $200 or less now a days.

From the sound of it, you will be fine. You really don't need to run max settings. Is it really worth the money to run a game on max??? Maybe it is for BF4, but I haven't played it yet. So time will tell IF I will need a new graphics card

I just don't see the benefit of selling my 660 Ti for a loss only to buy a card that's about 5% better tops according to benchmarks.

Re: SLI or get a new card for BF4?

I think you are confusing yourself here. You originally asked if it's better to sli 660ti or sell your 660ti and get a 770. 2x7950 > 2x660ti > Gtx 770. At the same price point 2x7950 is more beneficiary coz of more ram, obviously faster than both your options plus you get 6 games free. If you sell the 6 free games, your 660ti loss will be recovered.
