Now Fallout was very good. Icewind Dale? Eh wasn't bad...

Imo BioWare blows Black Isle out of the water.
Yeah, but since Black Isle disappeared from everything, Bioware's games have been subpar. KotOR was okay, Jade Empire was boring, Neverwinter Nights only REALLY captured my interest when the second expansion was released, although the online community for that game was amazing. I dunno, just seems like the days of good RPGs are gone. Nowadays it's mostly MMOs and games like Mass Effect.

No, I actually really liked it. I was only stating games that were like religious experiences to me , and even though MP2 was a really good game it didn't capture me the same way the first one did.

I haven't played stalker yet, but Deus Ex and Vampires BTM were also among my favorites so I will probably enjoy it well enough. I still have a few games I want to pick up before it though (CoD4, the witcher, Medieval Total War, WiC).

EverBlue did you play Shadowrun on the SNES (it came out in 1993). That was one of my favorite games on the system. I wish they would remake the Shadowrun RPG on PC.

Looks like this game will have to wait. I just spent $113 getting my car out of impound. I spent the night at my girlfriends place and the car was towed. What a waste. >.<

I cant even afford insurance for the month now.

if games will not work on vista, always try (assuming you trust them) compatibility mode. you can have UAC disabled (i don't recommend it), although you get the same benefit from just running your program as administrator.
right click, click on run as administrator
if you dont want to do that every time you run your program, you can go to properties, compatibility mode, and at the bottom select 'always run as administrator'
many programs need to be run as administrator, the primary of which is most annoying to me is updaters. if a program has auto update in its system, and is not run with administrative privileges, it WILL NOT be able to update itself because the files that it wants to copy to the hard drive will not be allowed to be placed.

I'm guessing you're not exactly young (no offense) ...?

The reason RPGs are changing is because the industry and consumer base is as well. Back in the 90s the graphics standards were so unbelievably low that the developers could concentrate more on the story and dialogue elements to their heart's content. And for you guys, that was awesome.

But in today's world, gamers are younger, graphics are better, and the industry is focused on the dollar value of their games. Developers don't have the time and resources to make the games they really want to make. The only company with the freedom and resources to do that is Blizzard. I have no doubt Bioware could make an RPG rivaling the best they've ever done. The problem is that's just not what people want anymore. Sure, some people that loved their classic RPGs would buy them, but sadly for you, you're in the minority now.

What I'm trying to say is, don't blame Bioware for the quality of their games as compared to "the good ole days." Because the truth is it's just not their fault.

By the way, bought Mass Effect the day it came out, freaking amazing game! Loved every second.

I don't think it's so bad that he brought it back up, because: A) It's not even a month old (or just barely), and B) He brings valid and comprehensible points to the table, instead of going "Yeah i agre, its changing lots".

Because its Vista. It'll be at least a year before I even considering buying that poor excuse for an OS.

Black Isle set the bar pretty high as far as RPGs are concerned, and I just haven't played one from Bioware lately that tops them.
I'm waiting for Bioware to finish up making the MMO based in the KOTOR universe...bitchin'.

My teacher was saying "When you compare Macs to Windows, you have to consider, is it a vista or an XP? Of course, XP pwns Macs but Vista.... I don't even know why they released such a disgrace."

My son palys it on my pc (vista with 2 8800GTs on SLI mode) after 20 minutes its starts to glitch. Apparently, there will be a patch to fix the problem because we don't have problems with any other games.
The graphics look cool, but my interest is more in to shooters/myltiplayer.

I read rumours that you get *3* activations for the game, after that you can either buy another copy of the game or call them and hope they give you another activation. Sounds like an OS activation scheme for a game, bad, bad path to go down!
