    Pirate mentality

    1) Pirate a game game development sim priced at $7.99 when there's a demo available.

    2) Watch the game you develop in the sim get hosed by pirates.

    3) Complain to sim developer about this happening. Ask for the option to implement DRM.

    4) Look like a twat when sim developer reveals he spent over a year developing the game and hasn't drawn a salary yet.

I don't like piracy, whether it be games or music. The financial implications, especially for smaller developers, are bad in their own right, but you also have to consider the security risks you take when you download some of that stuff.

    Re: Pirate mentality

Except the consequences in game aren't even close to reality. Game publishers don't go bankrupt due to piracy, if anything it might be the opposite. I don't want to get into a big debate about piracy, but it's not all black and white, it's a gray area. It can both help and hurt content producers/publishers. For example, Microsoft didn't even attempt to fight the piracy of MS officer for many, many years in an attempt make it the standard suite of programs for office type stuff. It worked.

As for complaining about to a developer that your pirated version of the game doesn't work right, that's just stupid.

It's a good game. I tried the demo out last night, and had to force myself to stop playing. I'll be sorely tempted to buy it this weekend.

If it gets enough votes on greenlight. It'll be on Steam shortly.

Yes, I voted for it. They've said they'll offer free Steam keys to anyone who buys now.
