Guess it all depends on what type of games you like to play. Sound is everything when you are playing Battlefield and a good headset will allow you to hear the direction your threat is coming from. I haven't really dealt with mono headphones and never heard of anyone gaming with a set of them although many may do so. On the other hand a nice wireless stereo headset is going to cost a bit more than your spending limit.

While its not wireless and a little outta your range I highly recommend these.
    Logitech - USB Headset H530

I have had a pair for a while now and I can wear these all day without any discomfort and the sound is amazing for the price.

I went with Turtle Beach Ear Force X12. I believe it was around $50 but oh man do these bad boys work. Definitely a good buy. If you can up your budget a bit I strongly suggest these. Excellent bass, rotatable bendable mic, tons of padding for comfort and separate chat and game volumes.

I personally wouldn't go with anything Logitech because I used to have one of their headsets and it was pretty flimsy and broke quickly. Turtle Beach and Triton, even though they're some of the best brands in the market, have lower-end headsets. I'd say the X12 is just above low-end.

Amazon.com: Plantronics GameCom 367 Closed-Ear Gaming Headset: Electronics

Look around in stores. You can find these for $30 no problem.
