The Sega GameGear had backlighting. Also had a full-color LCD. And it was only released a year after the Gameboy.

I always hated the music in Lavender Town. It wasnt scary, it was just... earsplitting. It was uncomfortable most of the time.

i was also something my aunt had, she had lion king and sonic with it too.
unfortunately, the bulk of portable gaming was done on the gameboy, since that market was dominated by nintendo, even today for a large part.

Sega was always ahead of there time, with the gamegear, and so many others.
The dreamcast was the first console to try to capitalize on online gaming, unfortunately without the standard use of high speed internet the dreamcast was only equipped with a 56 kbit/s modem jack.
