I know someone who lives very close (but not close-enough) to that area. I'm extremely jealous, and can only hope that this will push the race to nationwide gigabit a little faster.

Warning: transfer rate is 1 gigaBIT per second. Not 1 gigaBYTE. Huge difference.

128 Mb/s is the actual transfer rate. Still a huge improvement.

I have time warner and I know they offer 100 MB/s. Not sure about the price but it's around $80 I think.

I really hope this pushes to other carriers to upgrade the network in this country. We are so far behind with our network its ridiculous.

Google is using Kansas as a test location, hopefully everything will work out accordingly and they will start expanding to other locations.. I'll jump on it in a heart beat to get off this Time Warner bullcrap of a service..

I am paying close to $120 a month in bundled Cable/telephone and 50 mbps internet for those curious..

Funny, at the 1.41 sec mark in video above, It said 1,000 Mb per sec. aka 1 gigabytes.

I think they should of said 1,000 MBPS not MB. kinda misleading actually, lol.

Even on the official website..Google Fiber
At 1000 Mb per second, Google Fiber is 100 times faster than today’s average Internet, allowing you to get what you want instantaneously. You no longer have to wait on things buffering; everything will be ready to go when you are. So whether you are video chatting, uploading family videos, or playing your favorite online games, all you need to do is click and you’re there.

I do hate all telcom carriers but it would help get fiber to more areas quicker if they did help. Also with google in the game now it would mean a lot better pricing for Fiber since they would have to compete.

Ya'll complaining about 50Mbps, some of us don't even have fiber. We're still stuck on 15/5 here. I know an area that is still depending on dial-up.

Since I was the only who mentioned 50mbps your comment must be directed at me, I am not complaining about 50mbps, I am complaining about crappy service by Time Warner.
