Question. How will these setting changes affect other servers

Assuming that other servers have the their rates higher than default (like iO), then you'll get better response times from those servers as well.

I did this a few nights ago and instantly proceeded to get 6 dominations as medic on the losing team on Goldbad. Rock on!
    Are those girls even 18?
    Does it matter?
Yeah, in a court of law.
    Good thing we're in a TF2 server.

hey so i've been getting decent fps 25-35, and no real choke. BUT, i will get a lag spike every so often that's really bad, where my game will just stop for almost a second. any suggestions?

    Hey man,

I'm going to assume you have the problem so many other people (thread with 7 pages and thread with 2 pages) are having. I have it too, which is why I'm responding.

If it's something like you getting a ~1 second freeze (where your FPS drops down to about 10-15) as of the Feb. 3 update which seemed to occur with a "kill" event (ie. someone dies, or you die) but eventually turned out to occur randomly.

At the moment, there is no potential fix. All the currently suggested fixes does not work.

Let's see how long valve takes to figure out what's wrong.

Stupid me not mentioning that disabling steam cloud syncing in Options>Multiplayer>Advance fixes it for a lot of people.

good call. ive used it and it works to help reduce load times

here's an easier method, which i think defrags all the source files.

I'm keeping this in mind next time I go into the server. Major head-slamming has occured over the past several weeks on the servers, and I'm looking forward to putting these in.

I've put these in before, and didn't help much (net_graph 3 isn't working for me for some reason so I can't track a change). I'll put them in again and then put them to the test.

Re: Server Rates Changed - Read how to optimize your connection to iO!

I haven't been able to play on our servers since the change unfortunately. My connection just can't handle the mandantory 50k rate on our servers now. It's pure awesome for me at 20k, but I just don't have the bandwidth for much more than that without ping spikes etc. I know I'm in the uber minority here, so I won't keep whining about it, I'm sure the changes are beyond awesome for all of you with real internet connections. I do have one question though: Are ALL of our servers set at the 50k minimum rate? If so I guess I might as well just stop whining and find somewhere else to play, and pray everyone doesn't decide to make uber-tick servers :P
