    Possible help to stop crashing

Go to options after starting tf2 then select video and change model detail from high to medium. I read about this in another post somewhere. I haven't crashed for about 2 to 3 hours since changing that setting, I was crashing every 20 to 30 minutes. I'll post back if I crash again.

After 2 days of not crashing I crashed twice tonight, so this does not appear to help.

Well i played for about 2 hours tonight and had no issues.Hopefully the patch today and lower the graphics will keep it stable enough to keep playing.

Re: Possible help to stop crashing

Other than fire, this game doesn't use anything that video intensive so if you are turning down your video settings to run this you have a seriously shitty card and or rig. I ran this for years without any problems with everything cranked to full settings on a Geforce 8600 GT. The only time I ever got any game crashes was when there were a lot of people on the bridge in 2 Fort with a load of Pyros.

Make sure you defrag the game through Steam, not your computer. In Steam, right click on TF2, choose Properties > Local Files > Defrag Cache files. This should help with stability. Even the fastest rigs on the planet have problems with this game crashing so don't feel bad, but you shouldn't need to turn down any video settings if you have a decent card.

Re: Possible help to stop crashing

You can ignore my post. Although it seemed to help and gave me 4 days without a crash, the game eventually nose-dived into oblivion again. Sorry folks!
