With valve adding all these teleporter events to the game, do you think we may see a +1 point for every teleport or every 2nd teleport taken in the future? No one's enough of a tool to retake their tele over and over to farm points..lol "farm points"

They need to sort out the way stats work with the Dead Ringer, as it is every Dead Ringer death counts as a death for you and a kill for the other person, so even if you need really die you still end up losing a lot of points and getting a lot of HLstats spam in the message box.

So that everyone starts back on a level footing. Otherwise, it just ends up as a competition between the people that have been here for ages and the newer members never get to level up, even if they're more skilled than the older ones...

Wow, endless stats - immortalized on the web

IMHO, stat reset (in a suitable roster) makes sense...

Maybe this has already been discussed, but I don't think the way the kill/death points are calculated works for TF2 at all. It works for some games such as CS, because everyone is on equal footing, if you kill a higher ranked person then chances are you deserve more points for killing them. However in TF2 with the multiple roles and classes, the points system really discourages using certain selfless strategies (such as scout rushing, playing medic in some situations, etc). That is, if you really CARE about your HLstats ranking, which a lot of people do.

A highly ranked scout is gonna lose a TON of points if he isn't in active kill mode and he's actually trying to break through enemy defenses, and the people killing him (probably engies for the most part) are going to be getting 10 points per kill, which doesn't really add to the skill scale properly. There are a lot of situations like this, I'm just offering up the most common.

Snipers also get an unfair amount of points, especially those people who play sniper and nothing else. Their high k/d ratio is going to afford them a much larger points pool in a much shorter time frame.

My suggestions? I don't really have any great ones, but perhaps removing the points loss for dying to people, or changing the scaling somehow. Maybe offer a bigger points reward for support actions such as capturing the flag, or medic assists. I don't really know, all I know is I hate losing 500 points every time I switch to scout to try to wedge the intelligence out from their base while the opposing team is turtling. Yeah I know, noone MADE me go scout, or play kamikaze either, I'm just saying

*Admin ban hammer shield of justice*

Also, if we removed the points for dying, snipers (who never die) will get insane number of points compared classes such as.... well.... iono. Also, people who go on suicide runs and get one kill per 2 deaths will beat people who kill 5 people every life as long as they kill fast enough.

I think the points system is perfectly fine. Everytime I play, no matter what class it is, I'm gaining points. I know I suck at most classes especially in pubs but that's all the more reason I think it's fine. Each class has their own way of killing. Some people may think it's unfair but it's how the game was made.

If you want to see a really unfair ranking system, look at how valve ranks people. As long as you kill more, you are better. Doesn't matter if you've been playing for the past 5 hours, you are better than the person who just joined 30 minutes ago who has 200 points.
